Avoid if possible
Pros
They do get someone to try to "fix" this issue in your apartment relatively quickly. Whether they actually resolve this issue fast is a whole other issue.
Cons
Apartment was not cleaned before move in. It was quite gross. Had a wasp nest in the wall of the bathroom that took them 2 weeks to resolve. Almost every appliance has broken during my 1 year lease (including the radiator, which leaked for a week or 2 straight). Definitely paying too much for the apartment. Also the management is mean, try to get them to email you instead of randomly calling.
Advice to the owners
Update and clean our the apartment before the next tenant moves in.
Not worth the low prices
Pros
Large floor plans, all 2 beds/1 bath with a decent sized kitchen and living room for below average market prices. Allows pets. Relatively fast and organized response time to maintenance requests. Wall unit AC units are a big pro. The kitchen appliances are very nice. Great location next to all the best restaurants on a relatively quiet street.
Cons
All walls, floors, ceilings are PAPER thin. I don’t think there’s an ounce of insulation baked into this building. I can hear my next door neighbors sneeze in the living room. I feel like I’m living with roommates that I just never see. Because the whole building is all 2 bedroom apartments, it’s mostly full of very loud recent grads. The heat pipes are dangerously hot — WAY too hot. Water pressure in the shower is terrible. The stairs down to the basement for laundry probably do not meet standard codes and seem very dangerous. Most people who gift COVID deals in this building had to leave due to being priced out.
Advice to the owners
Renovate the staircase leading down to laundry for safety reasons. Figure out how to manage the heat pipes more appropriately. When tenants move out, consider making updates to the floors and walls that better mitigate intrusive sounds from neighbors.
