No frills pre-war
Pros
The units are slowly getting new stoves and counters between tenants, they were crusty before. Units can be spacious for nyc standards. No sign of rodents yet. Some units have updated bathrooms.
Cons
The owner isn't super responsive / involved. The trash room is always overflowing and needs more frequent pickups. Will find dead roaches in the hall. The windows need to be sealed and let in so much grime from the avenue. Many gaps in the wall boards = silverfish and roaches. Wood floors have water damage from the radiators which is another avenue for bugs. People in this building just buzz random people in and so sometimes packages are stolen. No video surveillance or video buzzing.
Advice to the owners
Invest in sealing gaps and more frequent trash pick up
