Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 4 Manhattan Avenue reveal its appeal as an affordable option with a prime Upper West Side location near Central Park and convenient stores. Tenants appreciate strong heating, good water pressure, and relatively quiet surroundings with friendly neighbors. However, persistent cleanliness issues in common areas, recurring pest problems, and occasional unpleasant odors diminish the living experience. Garbage management is inconsistent, and responsiveness from management varies, sometimes being slow. While some renters recommend the building for budget-conscious first-time tenants, many suggest that improved upkeep and more attentive management could greatly enhance resident satisfaction.

A Fair Stay
Former Tenant
Pros:
Rent is pretty low. It is pretty good for a budget stay on UWS. Everything else is pretty good except for cleanliness.
Cons:
The biggest problem of the building is cleanliness. It's always smelly in the corridor. Cockroaches, flies are common.

Good first apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
The are is amazing. You have Central Park less then a block away. You also have Whole Foods, target, tj maxx, and other similar stores really close by.
Cons:
The building staircase was often dirty and would stay like that for days sometime even weeks. There would be cigarette filters left on the ground, and at times the entire place would reek of weed.
Advice to owner:
My advice would be to prioritize cleaning the common areas.
