Don't live here
Pros
Everyone who lives in the building is nice, and the deli downstairs is great
Cons
For the first couple of years that we lived there, it was mostly fine. Then the landlord sold the building to a different management company and it was the worst ever since. For starters, there's no super, which is illegal for an apartment building of that side. We used to have one, but when the building was bought, they moved him out and the new company never replaced him. There is a phone number you're supposed to call with issues, but she doesn't answer the phone on weekends, so if you have a problem on a weekend (which of course it ALWAYS is), you can't get a hold of her. Here's the list of major issues we experienced: -- This past January we didnt have heat for 4 days so we were forced to spend all 4 days in one of the bedrooms with a space heater (or else freeze in our 30 degree apartment) -- The windows are messed up so in the winter there's no insulation, and in the summer you get bees and wasps in your apartment if you don't put yourself on a strict weekly schedule to check the windows -- The fire alarms in the hallway are constantly running out of battery, and of course, always in the middle of the night or on a weekend, so you can't call the super. Once a quarter you'll have a loud beeping sound (sometimes for days on end) because the super doesn't answer her phone on weekends -- There's a chemical exhaust / gas smell that comes through the north facing windows from outside. (Not sure if it's from a restaurant nearby or what, but it's concerning) -- German cockroaches come out of the kitchen sink every day during the summer no matter you do or how many times the exterminator came. -- We've caught 5+ mice over the course of our time, one of which chewed through the wall to get to our apartment (we found the hole later). -- Lots of issues with boiler / hot water over the years -- Trash area is consistently a mess with tons of rats -- Packages stolen often from the lobby -- In-unit dryer doesn't dry clothes -- And lastly, because it's on such a busy street & intersection, your apartment WILL be buzzed at all hours of the night by random people trying to get in. It happens at least once a week, if not more. And it's concerning when you are trying to sleep or if you are home alone.
New Management Terrible
Pros
great location, great apartment layout, washer dryer dishwasher, great neighbors
Cons
New Management is terrible. Never answers the phone. We lost heat and hot water for a week. Then no water at all. No communication. I miss our live in super. Making dumb renovations to increase rent.
