Review Summary for 500B West 146 Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 500B West 146 Street highlight a mixed tenant experience. Residents appreciate the spacious apartments with ample natural light, good water pressure, and friendly neighbors that contribute to a positive community atmosphere. The building's neighborhood and virtual doorman receive praise. However, significant concerns center on management's poor responsiveness and transparency, with frequent issues related to heating, inconsistent garbage management, and rising pest problems. Noise from the busy intersection and lack of an elevator also affect living comfort. Renters advise the owner to prioritize resolving heating and maintenance challenges to improve overall tenant satisfaction.

Be careful with management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Loved the layout and light in the apartment
Cons:
Management was frequently misleading, did not resolve serious issues in a timely manner, and clearly said contradicting things to different neighbors. There’s issues with the boiler and every year the heat turning on or off is a whole ordeal.
Advice to owner:
Empower your management to actually fix the issues of this building, especially the boiler.

nice apartment, awful management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, natural light, closet space, nice layout, lovely neighbors, thick walls/floors for privacy
Cons:
It's an old building that clearly has problems and management can be incredibly difficult about solving them. Heat/hot water was a recurring issue. It went out every couple of weeks, at least. Trash was also not managed well and and the "virtual doorman" frequently broke down. There were no major pest issues for most of our time there, although the number of roaches was increasing towards the end of our lease. The major issue was that management was unresponsive and unreliable. They regularly lied about maintenance issues and refused to offer lease renewals to tenants who complained about illegal conditions.
