Garbage Mountain (with French Doors)
Pros
Large apartment—did its job keeping me housed and sane during the height of COVID lockdown. The super was responsive…at least until the super changed.
Cons
For about five months they inexplicably used the courtyard as a sort of art installation for household garbage. I shudder to think of what it would have been like to live on the first floor in that building with all the pests. Packages were also stolen with regularity, and access to the laundry would be frequently restricted with no explanation.
Worst Place I’ve Ever Lived
Pros
Near a lot of subway lines. Never had a problem with heat.
Cons
Trash management was insane, there was a giant “courtyard” that apartments look into where people piled giant trash- refrigerators, mattresses, along with normal trash bags. I’ve show pictures to friends and they don’t believe it’s real. Full dumpsters would be dropped outside for weeks on end bc management didn’t schedule/pay for pickups. Huge rat problem. Big dead roaches would sit in the hallways for days at a time, noisy neighbors and area. When we moved in, we had a bad German cockroach infestation and the dishwasher and dryer did not work. Extermination was difficult and complicated to schedule, and at one point the exterminator didn’t show up because building Managment hadn’t paid them. Management was very difficult to get a hold of and unresponsive. This is a not nice building charging nice busking prices. After move out, security deposits were not sent until we pestered repeatedly, and then the checks bounced. We eventually got working checks but we had to jump through a lot of hoops to get there.
