Horrible management and mice infestation
Pros
Ample sunlight in street-facing room, spacious apartment
Cons
Absolutely horrible snakes as management, mice infestation in building, always trying to raise rent like crazy
Mouse infestation - at least that means the rats are only outside!
Pros
- Best super I've ever had - Jose is extremely responsive and took great care of my roommates and I. Quite literally the only redeeming part of this building - Laundry in unit (when it worked)
Cons
- Mouse infestation that in the 2 years I lived here was never resolved. There was a point we were seeing mice daily, often multiple times a day. We would fine holes chewed through our food and droppings in bins - Also a roach infestation, seeing multiple a week - Garbage alley outside meant that you would have to practically step over and around the rats when trying to walk inside the building. I lived on the first floor, and could hear them outside my door rummaging through the trash constantly. They would also run across my air conditioning unit - Management company was extremely unhelpful and unresponsive. Our washing machine wasn't drying our clothes and it took over a month to resolve. - Bathroom had no sort of ventilation, causing mold all over the tub, ceiling, and even in the toilet - Extremely thin walls/floors/ceilings - we could hear our neighbors constantly - When we received our second lease renewal, they increased the rent over $1,000. Management absolutely took advantage of the lift in rental increase restrictions during the pandemic
Advice to the owners
Listen to your tenants!!!! I can see that there are reports dating back many years about apartment 1E specifically about the mouse/roach infestation. I understand this is a first floor unit, but there are clearly holes in the kitchen/living room that need to be sealed. There's a reason that this unit cannot stay occupied (along with the astronomical rent you're trying to charge for an apartment that shouldn't even be habitable)
