Absentee landlords

Pros:
The building is well priced and well located. Each apartment is large and has nice lighting.
Cons:
The building owners are frankly absentee landlords who have neglected to update, clean, or maintain the building for many years. When I lived in the building the intercom and buzzer to let people in did not work, the appliances and finishes were old and there were some problems with pests in the building. On top of that the owner seemed to resent the tenants for asking for repairs etc. My roommates and I and the couple below us all moved out after 1 year.
Advice to owner:
Put some money into the building and set clear expectations with the the tenants.

Great apt, nonexistent landlord.

Pros:
Lots of space, many rooms that allows for a flexible layout. Never had trouble with hot water, electricity or internet. Low occupancy walk up. Great neighborhood.
Cons:
Needs renovation, water could get WAY too hot sometimes, heating pipes clank loudly and sometimes seemed to turn on randomly.

good location, affordable price, large apartments
Cons:
building poorly maintained and is old, landlord is not responsive to tenant issues
Advice to owner:
be a bit more responsive to tenants and set clear expectations
