Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 5 Monroe Place, Brooklyn, reveal a mixed living experience. The building benefits from a prime location and some friendly neighbors for certain tenants. However, management responsiveness is a significant concern, with complaints about slow or dismissive handling of maintenance issues, pest control, and tenant disputes. Garbage management varies widely, and heating problems have been reported. Noise levels and tenant behavior also appear inconsistent, with some residents facing harassment and community challenges. While the building shows potential with recent management changes, prospective renters should weigh these factors carefully, especially regarding safety and management responsiveness.

Pretty good apartment for the location!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighbors are friendly and easy to work with around moving and also any issue in the building.
Cons:
Building management was terrible, they would blame issues on other things instead of actually fixing them. However the management has changed recently and it seems to have gotten better
Landlord was extremely slow to respond to broken heat, a broken lock, garbage and shoes left in the shared hallway, unleashed dogs, and a neighborhood who was stalking and harassing young women in the building. I was constructively evicted from my apartment because of the severity of stalking and harassment and the landlord assumed no responsibility, was dismissive and minimizing, and is refusing to return my security deposit.
