Charming but Rat Infestation/Building in Disrepair
Former Tenant
Pros:
Convenient Central Location Live in Super Responsive Management quick to reconcile issues The back apartments are quiet Nice architectural details Laundry next door
Cons:
Poor Temperature Control - Apt felt like living outdoors, drafty at broken windows and window unit. Pest Presence - throughout my time living here I encountered rat droppings in base cabinets and stove, could hear mice in walls, saw a mouse in apartment. every time the super needed to cut open the walls and ceilings rat droppings would fall out of the ceiling and walls. Throughout my time I lived in fear of coming home to a rat, hearing them in the walls, and experienced people moving out because a family of mice lived in their apartment. I saw a couple roaches and many insects of all kinds within apartment. Crummy corners - landlord keeps building overall in disrepair. A few times would pass homeless people smoking weed or throwing up in foyer
Advice to owner:
Take better care of property and take the eradication of pests seriously.

Responsive Landlord & Super
Former Tenant
Pros:
This building is in a great location in Brooklyn Heights, it's close to all the stores and subway. The neighborhood is beautiful! As far as the building management is concerned, the landlord and super are great and very responsive and do their best to help out all the tenants. Regarding the tenants, we all communicate with each other when issues arise. As I previously mentioned, these issues are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
Cons:
I'm happy to be living here. The building is old and needs a lot of care but things are being taken care of. I don't have any major complaints, for the most part, the management and tenants are very nice.
Advice to owner:
The property owner has a lot of experience managing their properties, and from what I can see, does a good job.

charming, except for the rats
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building has nice original features, like hardwood floors, marble touches, and high ceilings (11 feet in our apartment!). The windows are large and let in a lot of good light.
Cons:
We've had rats constantly since moving here almost a year ago. We and other tenants in the building have reached out to the property manager, who has either not responded to us or only sent the exterminator back in. The exterminator poisons the rats and the cycle starts all over. They never make an effort to actually close up the wholes that allow the rats in. Two of the casement windows don't shut all the way. The tub is disgusting and no amount of scrubbing will make it feel clean.
Advice to owner:
Close up the holes in the entire building to prevent the rat problem.

GET PEST CONTROL
Former Tenant
Pros:
Loved the unit and the building but due to us going on holiday we weren’t able to clean in time and left food outside for rats to swarm in. The building offers free pest control, and the property manager is a amazing guy. Also love the neighbors they are friendly and are nice.
Cons:
We left for Christmas and came back to tons of rats, everything else in the beginning was amazing and I loved the unit.
Advice to owner:
Plug the holes where the radiators are located, inspect the units to see where the rats are, have central ac and let the window in the kitchen open.
