Landlady is RUDE and takes advantage
Pros
Amazing location in a wonderful neighborhood and lovely street. Sunny apartment with a well lit and large kitchen in a small brownstone with a cute stoop.
Cons
The apartment as well as the building are old, rickety, and falling apart. The whole thing needs major repairs. There is no garbage management either, and you'll need to shovel the sidewalk and the stairs during snow. Additionally, leading up to your own move out date, the landlady Wendy will require you to show the apartment to prospective tenants. All of this sounded doable to us, but the landlady very much takes advantage and becomes quite pushy for you to be home at certain times, pick up keys from real estate office, and even coordinate over email and in person directly with people interested in the apartment. The landlady has the same address (basement apt) but she lives out of state majority of the year, and while she is responsive, she is rude. She was rude to our requests about the fallen rod in the closet making the closet completely unusable, paint chipping off the ceiling and constantly falling on our heads, and the dangerous state of the hallway staircase. When we moved out, she charged us security deposit because were in the apartment the morning of our move-out date to paint one of the walls back to its original color - mind you, nobody was moving in that day and nobody moved in for months after. She is petty and we are so glad to be out of there!
