Dangerous building, disrespectful landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Can’t beat the location.
Cons:
Well, the landlord. 1) I unlocked the door and walked into my apartment one day and some rando dude was catching water out of the radiator in my bedroom with a pot from my kitchen. Can you imagine!!?! I thought I was about to be killed. He had come in through the fire escape window at the landlord’s direction to fix the radiator. Apparently they didn’t have copy of key. Could the guy have called me and would I have let would let them in to fix the radiator? Yes, I would have. Instead, the guy broke in and used MY pot to catch dirty water, and scared the hell out of me. 2) The entire kitchen cabinet system attached to the wall fell down on my now-husband bc they attached it with tiny screws to drywall. My husband was hurt and most of my dishes broke. When we called and told him what happened and that my husband was hurt, he literally said “Don’t give me that BedStuy bullshit”. So, not only was the apartment dangerous, but the guy is a racist.
Advice to owner:
Don’t be racist and lazy and cheap. Keep your property and tenants safe.

This is the worst building I have lived in
Former Tenant
Pros:
location is really good, great neighborhood
Cons:
Literally everything else. They raised our rent during the lockdown of the pandemic when we had no option to move. Roaches and mice all the time and they never do anything about it. Constant construction without permits all day every day which has been torture working from home. They let a family member live in the back of the building and he’s constantly in the courtyard space coughing up his lungs, smoking, farting, drunk puking, being as disruptive as possible until really late / early hours of the morning. I have never had such a terrible experience in any building I’ve lived in, in any city. I cannot wait to leave.
Advice to owner:
None. I just think they are awful, awful people who are taking advantage of the fact that they own a building in a desirable area and can get away with anything right now. Avoid this place at all cost. You will be miserable, the whole building is.
