Lots of space, bare-bones maintenance

Pros:
A great amount of space for the rent. Large outdoor space. Nice block with great block association (street parties, etc)
Cons:
Kitchen, bathrooms, etc are very old and not always functional. When things break landlord does bare minimum to keep something temporarily running - until it breaks again. The building shares a sewage line with other buildings and in heavy rains it can back up and flood the basement. Landlord pumps it out but doesn't invest in a real fix (this is the pattern). In 2019, said he would only raise rent with property tax hikes, then raised it by more (okay, inflation etc) and then by a lot. I think he felt we were lucky to be there somehow, even though we paid him hundreds of thousands over 5 years.
