Beautiful apartment but...
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment is beautiful - lots of light, the location is perfect (subway and park), landlord is responsive.
Cons:
The apartment is very, very noisy and the landlords will do nothing to improve the apartment. I offered to pay for insulation to dampen the sound and they said no. The bathroom and kitchen are old, old, old. Leaks happen a couple of times a year but they will fix them. They do not clean the building. Ever. Not once. There’s no fire escape (is that even legal?). They will not return your full deposit even if you clean, patch and paint - which was disappointing bc I thought we got along pretty well AND we agreed to what needed to be done for full deposit return, I did it and they didn’t honor our agreement. Lame. Also if anything needs to be replaced they will find the cheapest version of what is needed. My stove and fridge both were replaced (gratefully) but with smaller, shittier models. Mice in the walls which will make their way into the apartment. Landlords will do nothing about them.
Advice to owner:
Renovate. Paint the halls and put in new carpet. Give nice tenants who clean up when they leave their security deposit back. Consider insulation between the floors to dampen noise.
