Landlord is a fraud
Pros
The tenants are generally nice people, but you have to stick together with this kind of landlord.
Cons
If you google the landlord’s name and New York Times, you’ll find all you need to know. A guy who commits Medicare fraud isn’t the type of guy who respects his tenants. There’s a reason he asks for cash only when you go in to sign a lease. He’s a predator. Yelling and attempting to extort money from tenants for “damages” is the norm. He’s especially aggressive towards women.
Advice to the owners
Learn to keep your mouth shut.
