Major Rat Issue

Pros:
The landlord is responsive, there are dishwashers in unit and a washing machine in the basement. The building feels somewhat recently updated and the bathrooms are nice.
Cons:
Only windows are in the bedrooms. Main issue is that there is a rat infestation outside of the building — seems like there is a huge rat nest directly under the trash area outside the building. Many rats run back and forth in front of the building at night

Awful experience overall – Health Risk

Close to trains, big windows
Cons:
Overpriced for a rat, mold and horse fly infested building. There is an awful rodent smell in hallway **all the time**. We notified our landlord about a leak and foul odors in our apartment and it's been over 1.5 years and he still hasn't fixed either. Do not expect any repairs to be made or any cleaning to be done before moving in.
The hallway is full of pet hair and it's disgusting. The building wreaks of mold. Don't even bother doing laundry in the nasty washer downstairs. Packages stolen.
Advice to owner:
Have you no sympathy for the lives you've impacted with your negligence and greed.

Pros:
Nothing. This building was an absolute nightmare.
Cons:
I didn't like the fact that the apartment smelled like complete rodent feces. The smell was absolutely overbearing with disgust. There was an infestation of rodents. Packages were delivered in the middle of the hallway thrown disorderly.
Advice to owner:
Tear it down and start from scratch, stop scamming people.

Pros:
It was renovated in 2018 and there are modern appliances. We can pay rent online (with an additional processing fee).
Cons:
The renovation was cheap and the walls are thin. There are many gaps in the walls that allow roaches and fowl smells to come in. The plumbing is shotty and there are often leaks. The repairmen/exterminators that the landlord hires are not skilled and they often create more damage than necessary. The landlord does not respond to requests for repairs (including repairs to damages caused by his own repairmen). Even something as simple as a drywall patch or a lightbulb change is an uphill battle.
The laundry room is never cleaned, the washer / dryer is disgusting. Packages are often stolen here due to broken locks on the entrance door and cameras that don't work.
The landlord will NOT clean the apartment before you move in and he will likely NOT repaint — even if he tells you otherwise. There is a lot of turnover here and every tenant has moved into a filthy apartment. No one has stayed in the building for longer than two years.
Poor and inappropriate communication. Despite inconsistent maintenance and much needed improvements and repairs, the landlord likes to obnoxiously raise the rent and rudely harass his tenants for making complaints. Then he'll claim he doesn't speak good enough English in order to avoid accountability.
Advice to owner:
You should not be in the real estate business. Take a class on property management. You clearly don't know what you're doing.

Take accountability to provide a habitable space for residents.

Cons:
Mold in the building- pretty sure I got sick of it. Found a mouse. A leak in our bathroom.
