Landlord not helpful
Pros
I loved the neighborhood, and the apartment was honestly really cute. Nice wooden features, charming, huge bedrooms.
Cons
Landlord caused trouble and was combative from day 1. He lives in the building and tries to gaslight you into thinking everything is your fault instead of fixing it. Also a lot of yelli!g coming from their apartment all the time.
Overpriced crumbling apartment
Pros
Close to the train and lots of good restaurants around
Cons
The owner/landlord lives in the building. He’s nosey, rude, loud, selfish, inconsiderate, insufferable to talk to and impossible to reason with. The rent is so overpriced for a building that is so old and essentially falling apart. The pipes are eroding, the wood is falling off the window sills, and our apartment is constantly infested with ants, roaches, and/or mice no matter how often we clean and set our traps. He’s so slow to respond with exterminator requests and fixes. Then, he tries to gaslight us to try to get us to pay for his half assed repairs. He doesn’t turn the heat on in the winter until you bully him or report him to 311. There’s no laundry in the building and he won’t let you lock your bike on the gate. His door is always open and he and his family and friends are super loud. That’s just an addition to the thin walls, the bar downstairs and the prospect park shuttle right outside the window
