Enjoyed living here
Former Tenant

Cons:

frustrating
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is amazing (only 1 block from the Brooklyn Museum and its subway station, which now includes an elevator). The apartments are generously sized and have working microwaves, dishwashers, washers, and dryers. Multiple bathrooms in the multiple-bedroom units. There is roof access with a great view.
Cons:
Huge problem with package theft. Packages are often just left in the lobby, though there is a package room. However, there appears to be a thief in the building, not only accessing the lobby from outside, since packages repeatedly go missing in very short windows of time, and items have been stolen from inside the locked package room. The package room barely gets used properly. As to the theft, many neighbors have experienced this and complained, but nothing really happens because the management has repeatedly failed to check the security footage, or inconsistently claimed they require a police report first, which takes a lot of time and effort to obtain. The basement, where storage, bike storage, and the "gym" are is incredibly dirty, some of the doors don't work, and the access to it is downright dangerous, with the courtyard access blocked by debris and hanging wires, and the path there is not properly lit. Speaking of the "gym", it is a joke - a cell-like basement room with barely any equipment, no windows, dingy, and depressing. Although the view is great, the "roof deck" is also a joke - just some rubber tiles laid down in a small space in the middle of the roof, surrounded by a flimsy railing with some non-functioning twinkle lights wrapped around it and a couple of wobbly old deck chairs. The patio or courtyard is similar - it could be nice, but is surrounded by debris-strewn, overgrown areas. The only elevator breaks down periodically and has done so consistently for years. Sometimes twice in a month, with outages lasting for a whole day or more. Inside the apartments: cabinets, doors, countertops, etc., are decent, but sometimes not well fitted - the work seems rushed, but often they are small fixes you can DIY. The appliances are OK, except the oven/stoves are pretty crap - the light in the oven often goes out. The main spaces are fairly clean, except they let a lot of junk like empty or unclaimed boxes pile up for a long time sometimes. Neighbors: most of them are very sweet, and it's a very family and pet-friendly place. However, there is at least one really horrible neighbor in one of the units who periodically harasses people, shouts at people, bangs on doors or floors (she is on the top floor), especially if you’re in E5, right below her, and has menaced and threatened neighbors and their guests. She has been there for ages and even boasts of the fact that she has been able to bully the other residents with impunity. Management have been somewhat responsive but overall ineffective for years about this.
Advice to owner:
The building has great potential, but if you want to market this as a "luxury" building, and charge high rents accordingly, you need to make some long-term investments: upgrade and repair the common areas, and be more responsive to complaints, with actual solutions to the problems, rather than just deferring and hoping to pawn the issue off to the next tenant who moves in once the current one gets fed up and leaves.

If you like no heat, live here
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is good.
Cons:
I’m previous reviews, it’s noted that some bedrooms in this building do not have heat. This is absolutely true and management would address.
Advice to owner:
We need heat in winter.

Avoid this building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Super was great.
Cons:
The apt I had was originally a 1br/1ba that was converted to a 2br/2ba. Because of this, I had one BR that that had no heat, requiring the need for a space heater. By itself the apt could not get up to the required temperature required by NYC. Management doesn't care.
Advice to owner:
People need heat.
