an ok apartment

Pros:
roof access, ok location for crown heights, big bedrooms
Cons:
hot water issues in winter, very very loud clanky radiator, garbage management is atrocious (rats abound, building has had many warnings from the city), main areas are dirty, the occasional roach. very shoddy renovation of unit. stairs have had multiple safety issues. packages stolen frequently.

Affordable pre-war w/ flaws

Pros:
• cheap rent for the area (off Franklin av)
• pre war details in unit & lobby
• amazing roof w/ view of Manhattan
Cons:
• poor building management
• building falling apart: floor cracking, cracking in staircase, mold, wobbly stair railings
• management keeps radiator water & steam pressure high so upper floors have horrible water hammer (worse than other pre war buildings)
• roaches, mice (you have to exterminate yourself)
Advice to owner:
building management needs to prioritize basic needs
