good neighborhood, okay building owners
Pros
really friendly tenants, roof access, laundry in building (although you have to pay), large windows, decent sized closets, if you live on the first floor you have access to the backyard
Cons
your utility bill is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY higher in the winter because you cannot control the heaters, it’s a railroad apartment so it’s usually pretty dark, steps are a little unstable, landlords do not want to make larger fixes that would improve tenant experience. and is not fully responsive (inconsistent and sporadic) when those changes need to be made. if you’re not planning on fixing something just let us know
Advice to the owners
in between people moving in and out of rooms please fix the walls and ceilings and floors so that tenants do not have to documents all of the damage so that they don’t have to pay later. i moved in and there were and are SO MANY issues with my walls and ceilings that it took me days to fully document each piece of damage left by the previous occupant. also lower the rent to keep up with the covid market. could even have free laundry in the building it would be a great perk in addition to adding another washer and dryer set
