Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 436 New York Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, indicate mixed feedback. Tenants praise the longstanding residents, attentive maintenance crew, and considerate superintendent. However, issues arise with irresponsible neighbors, leaks, mold, and slow hot water. Complaints extend to unresponsive management and shoddy repairs. Suggestions include improved maintenance practices and landlord responsiveness. Despite these drawbacks, the building's prewar charm and proximity to amenities are noted positives. Renters express uncertainty about the rent stabilization status and recommend potential renters to weigh the pros and cons carefully.

Fine, but probably shady
Former Tenant
Pros:
A lot of tenants have been living here for a long time, nice maintenance crew, really nice super, packages generally don't get stolen, my floor is pretty quiet, the super does a good job with the trash (it's a lot of work!)
Cons:
Other tenants are irresponsible with how they put trash/recycling in the bin room (i.e trash in the recycling bin, not breaking down boxes etc), my ceiling has leaked probably 2x a year over the last 5 years because they DO NOT fix the roof only patch ups, my windowsills are crumbling and moldy, my tub and tiles around tub are crumbling and flaking and moldy, it can take a long time for the hot water to kick in, and the management office is rude and pretty unhelpful (super is nice and friendly though)
Advice to owner:
be honest and actually fix stuff
