Sign that lease if you like living in Hell
Pros
Nice sunlight I guess
Cons
What can I say… You will be living above your landlord who is not a good person. Get ready to report elderly abuse. Cathlena spends most of her days yelling at her elderly mother who is mute. She also likes to reprimand and belittle the cleaning lady who can’t speak English and anyone else who may be in a vulnerable position. (Even her own sister and sister’s children have brought her to court suing for false pretense, taking advantage of her while she was hospitalized for mental illness). The door to your apartment (which is just a simple bedroom door with no legit lock) will continue to break. Her recommendation to you will be to put a box against it so it stays closed before she hires someone to half ass fix it until it breaks again 4 months later. You will have to request for sufficient heat multiple times with no response, only to be told to “boil a pot of water.” To keep yourself warm. out of desperation, if you check the thermostat in the main hallway (three feet away from your entrance), beware. if you call and report to 311 for broken heat in November, she will call and yell at you so that it isn’t documented and then call the police on you out of retaliation - claiming you trespassed… for checking said thermostat. Cathlena doesn’t want anyone in her house but it’s her only choice to continue to rent the top floor out for financial reasons. She will do everything to try to intimidate you to leave. She has a camera that she watches to spy on any guests you bring into her home. She will also decide to rummage in her “upstairs closet” at midnight in order to eavesdrop on you and any guests that stay over. The level of music and Tv coming from her part of the home will be so excruciatingly loud too. I wish the sound levels issue was the biggest problem. And if you clean the place increasingly, fill any minor holes in the walls and sand over, leave the place in immaculate condition, she will still find a way to keep over half your security deposit. No one seems to stay in this place for more than 2 years and for good reason. I have never experienced such a hell of a rental situation and I hope to never have to ever again. I feel for the current and all past and future tenants. Just don’t do it. Justice for her sister Christina. I hope you read this Cathlena.
Advice to the owners
Don’t rent this apartment out since you don’t want anyone in your house.
