Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 1086 Broadway, Brooklyn highlight its appealing rooftop, balconies, and central location with good transit access. Rent stabilization and pet-friendly policies are positives. The building often has responsive maintenance and a friendly super. However, the neighborhood is described as rough and can be noisy due to nearby bars and shelters, impacting comfort and safety. Some tenants report issues with landlord responsiveness, deposit disputes, and the need for better kitchen and bathroom fixtures. Garbage management is generally adequate, though overall cleanliness and pest control vary. Prospective renters may weigh the building’s amenities against the challenging surrounding environment.

Good transition apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is quite central and the apartment allows pets, even though they say they don't, and the rooftop has been seriously so stunning. The Super is the best part of the apartment, he is always around and always so cheerful and willing to help and even goes the extra mile to help you out.
Cons:
The laundry on top of an expensive rent is so pricey, the neighbors inside the building aren't the most friendly and do not abide by quiet hours, the two shelters on the same block make the commute pretty dangerous and uncomfortable as well as the bar within the shelter that blasts horrible DJ sets until 4am. The landlord is never around and very hands-off.
Advice to owner:
I would try to be around more and discuss safety concerns with the other owners on this block and establish connections in order to better your tenants concerns and safety.
