Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 401 Macon Street emphasize its affordable rent, good location, and pet-friendly policy as major benefits. Tenants note positively the reasonable water pressure, neighborly environment, and some updated apartment features. However, persistent issues with cleanliness, poor garbage management, and ongoing renovation delays detract from the living experience. Maintenance and owner responsiveness receive considerable criticism, with multiple reports of slow repairs affecting heat, hot water, door locks, and general upkeep. Noise from neighbors and occasional missing mail are additional concerns. While some recommend the building for its affordability and community vibe, many urge management to improve maintenance, cleanliness, and communication to enhance tenant satisfaction.

Every mole hill turns into a mountain
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, updated appliances, fresh paint.
Cons:
Maintenance is horrendous, good luck trying to get anything fixed or solved in the building. Problems occur and it will take several phone calls, emails, and 311 reports in order for it to be solved (including heat, hot water, door locks, air conditioning, broken mailboxes, broken fridges, etc).
Advice to owner:
WHY DOES IT TAKE 3 WEEKS TO GET ANYTHING FIXED?

Becoming worse in the past year
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location. Welcome pets. Cheap.
Cons:
There is no management per say in this building. No one cleans the public space. Always have trash in front of the gate. Laundry room dirty and always smell like rotten egg. They started renovating the building about 7months ago and stopped mid way until now. We haven’t had a door frame for 5 months.
Advice to owner:
Clean your building. Finish renovating. Start managing.
