New supers have made this a 5 star building… sorta
Former Tenant
Pros:
Quiet neighborhood, feels safe at night. Close to JMZ and G lines which is great for Brooklyn. Close to Food Bazaar and Mr Kiwi and a couple other supermarkets. Water gets SUPER hot. Central heating and air. GORGEOUS views from the right side apartments and enormous rooftop. Beautiful old building. Park below is being expanded.
Cons:
Water pressure isn’t great, and heat/AC units weren’t always reliable. The age of the building shows and it’s hard to get the place completely clean. We had some leaks & big water stains during storms — old super did nothing, new guys are trying to fix it. You have to walk into Bushwick (30ish mins) for any nightlife, and there’s not a ton of community because the neighborhood is mostly Hasidic Jewish, and they mostly keep to themselves. Lots of trash on the streets, but the building is well maintained for the most part
Advice to owner:
Back of the building has amazing views and great light

Garbage building and landlords
Former Tenant
Pros:
Central heating, price to an extent
Cons:
Dirty building (never cleaned), “roof access” but it’s not really a roof you can go onto because of the hazards and 5g antenna noise is very very loud, landlord does not hire proper repair men/the super is incompetent and will not fix things correctly- which is a big issue because many things are broken/brake constantly in the building, landlords response time is very slow and they will not warn you when the water is shut off (for repairs bc the pipes keep bursting), “laundry room in building” but its actually outside around back and you have to still pay to wash your clothes, black mold is an issue within the building, roaches are not sprayed for regularly
Advice to owner:
Don’t cut corners/be lazy, instead fix your building properly or just knock it down because it is falling apart and your tenet s health is important

Awful management, okay apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment itself got the job done. Nothing special though. The units have split heater ac’s which are nice. The view was good too.
Cons:
So many cons!! The exposed brick walls throughout the units seep water and therefore crystallize a mysterious reddish dust that gets everywhere. It also will mold anything that’s near it in the humid months. Management is unresponsive and rude. They frequently ask to come into the unit to do repairs without giving you notice; and if you don’t answer the door they’ll call you nonstop until you do. Very unprofessional. Additionally the building is next to a vacant lot where people love to congregate and ride dirt bikes/play sports until 3 am. Further, the water temperature of the sink/shower runs only extremely hot at first until you let it go for about three minutes and it will change back to cold. If you want a drink or cold water you’re going to have to wait.
Advice to owner:
Be respectful of your tenants space and rights please.

Thin walls, small space, okay rooftop
Former Tenant
Pros:
The renovated kitchen was lovely, the brick wall looked beautiful, and the hardwood floors were really nice. The bathroom was also really nice, and having access to the rooftop was great.
Cons:
The space was small for a one bedroom, and the walls were very very thin (we could hear every word the neighbors said and vice versa).
Advice to owner:
Install better bike parking that isn’t out front of the building and susceptible to theft.
