Best building management experience I’ve had, but not perfect
Pros
- Wonderful and responsive maintenance staff. - Kind and respectful neighbors. - Willing to negotiate pets. - Overall well-maintained building.
Cons
- They could do more to prevent pest issues. There’s a pretty big gap in the front door that’s been like that for years, big enough for rodents to come through. Thankfully I only ever saw one mouse and that was years ago. The exterminator comes quarterly but his spraying is just a repellent and really not adequate for a building of this age in New York. - Loud construction across the street as of 2026. - Even when I first moved in, there were always drugstore beetles and other types of creepy crawlers around. My unit seems to be prone to moths which is annoying. I’ve heard of a neighbor having a bee issue though it might have been handled for all I know. - Front door missing a knob and buzzers broken for years on end. - No laundry in the building but there’s a decent place for drop-off nearby so it’s not a big deal. - Plumbing issues are somewhat common, especially when it gets cold. But it was built in 1900, what can you expect?
Advice to the owners
Issues in the entryway need to be addressed and the exterminator needs to use more effective methods. It’s great that they’re responsive to tenant requests about individual units but I feel like entryway issues can fall by the wayside. Otherwise I appreciate how well maintained this building is.
