Please don’t
Pros
Apartment layout, central heat/air, only 3 units, close to L
Cons
For starters, carpet beetles, which require the same amount of work as bed bugs. 1200$ in dry cleaning/laundry, new couch, threw out rugs, other furniture. Costed me thousands. Worse, Landlord operates with impunity. He is so confident about being “above the law” and that his tenants are too dense to inquire that all the illegal stuff is written into the rider such as 1) tenant must buy a boiler maintenance contract; 2) tenant must maintain the property including sidewalk cleaning, trash and recycling duties, and if fines are incurred tenant must pay the trash tickets, to name a few. None of that is legal. Don’t even get me started on other unconscionable clauses of the lease. When we and some other tenants brought some of these issues up to the landlord/management we were told that if we didn’t want to play by the landlord’s rules we needed to live somewhere else. Excuse me? We said “illegal” as in, not in conformance with state law. How about if the landlord doesn’t want to play by NY real estate law, don’t own property in NY. *mic drop*
Advice to the owners
Stop breaking the law and taking advantage of tenants you nickel and dining piece of poop.
Old but cozy
Pros
Very quaint style of building and apartments. Spacious for a $2700 Williamsburg unit. Appreciate the monthly pest control.
Cons
Could be maintained slightly better. Super old so things feel a little..rickety sometimes. Our ceiling started leaking due to heavy snow last winter. Very loud fans from the restaurant next door
Advice to the owners
Possibly ask tenants how you can better help them every once in a while
