Great light, thin floors and temperamental live-in landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great, central location on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint - close to subway, restaurants, bus lines. Most units have lovely natural light on both ends of the apartments. Large apartment units.
Cons:
The landlord lives on the ground floor of the apartment building and berates residents for every little thing. He also owns a small business connected to the building and will literally monitor residents and their guests coming in and out of the apartment, which can be quite uncomfortable. The floors are also very thin, so you can hear noise from the apartments above you. Finally, there isn't a safe way to receive packages or mail and often find them left on the street on Manhattan Avenue.

Good luck- landlord is controlling and unreasonable
Former Tenant
Pros:
The space is large and in a nice neighborhood
Cons:
The landlord lives in the building, sets unreasonable rules on movement or repairs/deliveries in the apartment. He is absolutely no help with any home maintenance including garbage or pest support and is not available unless you find him while he’s working at the laundromat on the bottom floor of the building. Despite paying rent on time and agreeing to his requests he is unwilling to work with you while moving in or out including withholding your security deposit and refusing to mail it. He also is verbally abusive
Advice to owner:
If a tennant is paying rent regularly and on time they should be shown respect of cohabitating. Verbally abusing anyone is never okay and just because you are the landlord does not give you this power
