Review Summary for 206 Calyer Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant reviews for 206 Calyer Street in Brooklyn highlight various aspects. The building suffers from noise issues due to traffic and construction, frequent rent increases, pest problems, and inconsistent heating. However, residents appreciate the location, water pressure, and responsive neighbors. Concerns about rats and roaches in the area are prevalent. Some suggest better pest control measures and improved landlord practices. Despite the drawbacks, the building's quiet environment, exclusive one apartment per floor setting, and clean laundry facilities garner positive feedback. Mixed opinions regarding landlord responsiveness and building upkeep affect overall recommendations.

Former Tenant
Pros:
- Water pressure was great.
- Reasonably responsive landlord.
Cons:
- A lot of traffic cuts through Calyer st to get to McGuinness Ave and there is a lot of honking in the early morning, around 5am. This woke us up often.
- The bins next to the front door are infested with rats. On one occasion I had a rat run up my leg while I was trying to open the front door.
- Expect regular rent increases of 20% - 25% or more. The landlord is very aggressive about collecting more and more money each year.
- The floors are quite creaky and thin, so you will hear your upstairs neighbors as they walk around or play music.
- Internet is very slow.
- There is a very big construction project planned for one of the adjacent buildings (complete demolition and rebuild).
- In winter the heat often stopped working for days at a time. We were provided small heaters by the landlord which increased our electricity bills.
