Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 57 Thames Street in Brooklyn reveal a mix of experiences. The building boasts a desirable location, spacious units, roof access, and quiet, respectful neighbors, which many tenants appreciate. Responsive and attentive management is noted by some, along with well-kept common areas and basic amenities. However, persistent issues include pest infestations, noise problems from thin walls and nearby transit, inconsistent heating controls, and water pressure concerns. Garbage management and cleanliness ratings vary, with a few citing neglect. Reports of lease disputes, rent hikes despite stabilization, and occasional building code violations highlight challenges. Prospective renters should weigh the balance between community benefits and maintenance concerns.

Crumbling Down Around You
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is cool and the roof access is nice
Cons:
No pest control or garbage, packages stolen. They’ll steal your deposit even if you make your own repairs, paint & return the apartment cleaner than how you found it. They have a history raise of raising rent despite loft law enforcement of rent increases. They illegally charge tenants last month & admin fees on top of first and last security.
Advice to owner:
You should try another profession!

DIY HELL in BK
Former Tenant
Pros:
Roof Access Nice Neighbors Good Location
Cons:
No pest control. Paper thin walls. Management and Owners unlikely to respond quickly to any repairs. Poor quality finishes. Illegally raising rent despite rent control. Nasty legal battle spanning years between. Management and Owners. Trucks illegally idling creates nasty fumes. Windows leak and are extremely drafty. Management has a history of harassment and intimidation, also have criminal arrests records for DV and Possession. Illegally locking exits and violationing NYFD codes. Illegal units without proper permits, occupancy licenses and blueprints.
Advice to owner:
Treat people well and perhaps they would stick around. I know in recent years decade long tenants have left due to poor quality of service and management.
