Building Overview
Building Report
Review Summary for 59 Graham Avenue
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 59 Graham Avenue in Brooklyn highlight major issues with the landlord's responsiveness and security deposit refunds. Tenants express frustration over delayed move-ins, unaddressed maintenance issues like broken windows, and inadequate pest control. Though some appreciate the location and modernity, the prevalent chaos and legal conflicts with the landlord deter approval and recommendations. Recommendations urge the landlord to adhere to legal obligations, improve responsiveness, and overall building management. Despite some positives like en suite bathrooms, street noise remains a common concern.

Landlord refuses to pay back security deposit
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nothing.
It was a terrible experience for the price we were paying.
Cons:
It has been over a year since I moved out and I have yet to receive my security deposits back. I have contacted Zalmen the landlord multiple times and got no response. I contact the management companies too and they said we didn't violate anything for him to be withholding our deposit.
The entrance is between rows of gigantic trash cans, which often blocks the pinpad and doorbells.
The ACs occasionally stop working.
There was a major leak from my shower to the floor below. The had to take out the tiling and redo it all in the course of 2 weeks. And they did not warn me about the dust at all. I have asthma and there was dust everywhere in my room and I could not breathe even with the windows wide open. I had to deal with this for the remainder of my time there.
The building stairwell smelled like constant trash and urine.
Our move-in was delayed because the windows were broken, and we got no refund whatsoever.
There's no vent in the kitchen, so every time we cooked we had to open the main door to let the grease out.
ETC.
