Don’t be fooled
Pros
The apartment itself is nice, small, but has had good upkeep. Kitchen renovations are very nice, chandeliers in apartment Pretty entrance way to the building All utilities were included except for internet which is great + (however no control of heat so get ready to sweat) For being so close to the subway, the noise was never an issue
Cons
I think 17 open violations speaks for itself. Building is listed as 2 family; it’s not. There are two apartments on the top floor and landlord lives on the bottom. No buzzer on door for the apartments Rent late fee- was $75 after 2 days late, which is quite a short grace period compared to norm. However beware, make sure you read your lease throughly! Landlord intended it to read as $75per day - insane! (Also illegal) No separate mailbox. If mail or packages are left in front of landlords door, she will not look at the name and she will open them simply because they were put by her door. When addressed I was told to pay for a PO Box if I had a problem with it Unorganized- no spare key for apartment. Was up to tenant to make copies. Was also up to tenant to install smoke detectors. Had a mouse friend Moved out over a year ago, still have not received my security deposit back (reasoning has changed many times with no support and despite reasons being discounted with proof) and landlord has stopped responding to attempts to recoup funds (even a letter from attorney) - will be taking further action when courts open up again Rental history on streeteasy is inaccurate
Advice to the owners
Stop trying to pull one over on good tenants.
