Unresponsive owner who doesn't follow laws
Pros
Very reasonable rent increases, owner is open to negotiation and month-to-month agreements. Good for people who want to be left alone and can handle very basic repairs themselves.
Cons
Owner does not like to turn on heat, is unresponsive to repair requests, and will insist you are wrong even if you cite the law to him with sources. My unit also had four ceiling leaks in the time I lived there. The owner takes the cheapest possible route for repairs so a lot of things end up recurring.
Advice to the owners
Come with a DIY attitude if you want a good deal on rent.
