Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 165 Central Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11221, highlight mixed experiences. Tenants appreciate the spacious units, friendly neighbors, and good garbage management. However, issues such as unresponsive management, poor heating systems, pest problems, water pressure issues, and noise disturbances decrease overall satisfaction. Suggestions include better maintenance between tenants and improved management responsiveness. Despite some positives like controllable heating and a vibrant neighborhood, overall satisfaction levels fluctuate due to various operational shortcomings and maintenance lapses.

I didn't want to write a review, but they're so bad I had to
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighbors were somewhat chill, we helped each other bring packages to our door on occasion and were cordial. The location was great!
Cons:
1. The front door has been busted for days sometimes (you can't open it until maybe your neighbor buzzes you in, you can not get in or out without buzzing in, that's a fire hazard). They try sometimes and fix it but it's not a surprise if the key gets jammed or stuck.

2. Management is not responsive. They don't even try to do the bare minimum. They're a hard to get ahold of. I don't think they care or try to seem to care. This has been the worst management experience I've had living in NYC. It took a few months to get some of the initial fixes in the apartment through.

3. You know how the air feels when it's humid or when you walk through fog? Imagine that, but the smell of feces when you walk into the buillding. We dealt with that a part of our time there. Sometimes it was bearable and fine, othertimes it was a game of holding your breath until you can get into your apartment. Sometimes the smell seeped through the door.

4. Water pressure was bad in the kitchen, it was okay in the bathroom. Our kitchen sink had a trickle of hot water after leaving it running for 5-10 minutes. Cold water had some great pressure though....

5. Management will gaslight you. Be prepared if you move here. Document everything in your time here. We tried to schedule a walk-through inspection weeks before moving out and provided ample time. They didn't respond.

6. We had overlapped residents when trying to move in. They tried to put the last resident's apartment damage on our security deposit. They did not put much effort in addressing things.

7. Get used to seeing roaches at least weekly. We were pretty clean. I would HATE to get bedbugs with this management. We didn't, but imagine how hard it would be to get that addressed when sometimes it takes weeks to get a response.

8. Thin walls. You could hear neighbors across and under you. Folks didn't complain about it and were relatively chill about it.
