Worst Year of my Life
Pros
The space is great which is what drew us to signing the lease. Location is nice, 5 mins from L train and near all the new bars and across from a school Lots of street parades
Cons
Where to begin.... The outside garbage situation is RAT CITY. We had to kick the garbage cans before opening them because rats would jump out. Also had plenty of mice we had to catch in our apartment. Cockroaches the size of eggs were a common occurrence. We couldn’t use half the kitchen because bugs were always occupying the cabinets and we could never figure out where they came from. Our toilet would flood randomly, it happened once when we were gone and the water dripped down to all the lower apartments The tub is tilted on its side, the tiles on the walls would fall off if you disturbed them. Our kitchen sink had no hot water until we asked the landlord to turn it on. Neighbors outside and inside always loud. It was a crammed family living next to us who were always yelling at each other or doing karaoke in the mornings. People outside would be loudly partying till 5 am, smashing glass and singing, a common occurrence in the summer. Also because it was a railroad apartment we had trouble getting airflow through the middle of the apartment, it would always be hot and humid in the living room. Do not rent from this apartment, I got no sleep for a whole year.
Advice to the owners
Destroy this property and rebuild it from scratch. It’s obviously been so neglected I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the complexes fell through. I’m sure the walls are so chewed up from the mice/ rats / bug problems with temporary solutions being used.
