The landlord tried to illegally enter our apartment twice…but wait there’s more.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful building, wine fridge (when it wasn’t broken), wonderful neighbors .
Cons:
The landlord is easily one of the most unprofessional individuals I have ever met. So I’m gonna dive into, it’s a long read but if you are considering moving in PLEASE READ!!! We told her around the first month of moving in that the toilet did not flush properly. She said it was my fault because I was flushing pads down the toilet.( I haven’t used sanitary napkins in quite some time and I know not to flush it down the toilet.) Once it was fixed, months later she explained to us how to flush a toilet…as if we have never flushed a toilet. On top of that when she finally came to repair the toilet we asked her to come another day because we had company over but, in typical fashion she disregarded us completely. I once had undergarments drying downstairs in the shared laundry room and she threw them into a Trader Joe’s bag and angrily knocked on our door and said it was disrespectful and later sent a very rude and inappropriate text to my partner essentially shamming me because I was line drying my underwear. She was mad mostly because she was showing off the upstairs unit and that my underwear was “out in the open”. She could of asked me to move it and I would of gladly taken care of it. She could of told us when she was showing the apartment and ask us to not do laundry. She didn’t do either of those things and frankly chose chaos. She also tried to illegally enter are apartment twice. She once opened the front door to apartment. No knock, no announcement, no text. Our friend saw her unlock the door and when my partner asked her what she was doing she said the door was unlocked and open. We foolishly let it slide and didn’t say anything. The 2nd time she unlocked our door she was calling for us outside the apartment. She didn’t give us any notice she was stopping by and this was in the middle of a workday my partner was in a meeting and I had a rare day off and didn’t want to deal with Rosa telling me I was a moron. So we ignored her… until we heard her put her keys into the front door and let herself in. I grabbed our cat so he wouldn’t run out and my boyfriend rightfully yelled at her to get out of our apartment. She said that she needed to do fix our patio door(it did not need to be fixed and we never asked her to fix it.) She took to the cellar and started to “repair” the patio door from the outside. My boyfriend tried to talk to her and apologize for yelling but she starts to yell obscenities at him and he couldn’t get a word in edgewise. We put a deadbolt on our door after that encounter and got heavy curtains for the front door I’ve gone through some of the big offenses so let me go over some other incidents in less detail. *She got mad at us for painting the hallway in our apartment. In our apartment… *she stole a grill from us that we kept under the deck. *she with held my mail because “I wasn’t on the lease” (I didn’t have to be on the lease to live there btw, she was mad that I moved in with my boyfriend and she wasn’t told, even though it is none of her business) *she tried to charge us for laundry water. *she took out the front door of the building to have it stained. We did not have a front door to the building that locked for 2 nights. Her solution for “safety” was to put a plank of wood between the second interior door(that didn’t lock) and the base of the stairs. THIS HAPPENED TWICE! *and so many other micro and macro aggressions that I can’t even begin to get into. Lastly she still hasn’t sent us the security deposit back for our apartment and said that she was going to mail it tomorrow. One day late of when she was legally supposed to send it. If you move into this apartment be aware of how utterly inappropriate and unprofessional Rosa is. And you may think to yourself that you really love this apartment and that it will be fine you just will avoid her at all cost. You can’t. She shows up at least once a week to watch the handy man throw out the garbage. She’s in the yard watering the plants. If you rent from her it is not your apartment, it will never be your apartment. It’s Rosa’s apartment and your doing everything wrong. STAY AWAY!
