Great Neighborhood, Bad building.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great neighborhood! Loved being so close to Caribbean comforts.
Cons:
It wasn’t well maintained. I kept my place so clean and still was dealing with infestations of bugs. There was also a safety issue as people were using stairwells to sleep overnight.

Really bad, old unkept building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The neighbors are the nicest people in the entire world and it's in a great area
Cons:
You will DEFINITELY at some point have a leak in your bathroom that soews literal sewage into your home. They will NEVER come to patch it up and may never even come to fix it. At least once a year you have to report to the housing dept that there's no heat. Roach problem is really bad.
Advice to owner:
Just take care of the building please

use to be a nice Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to train, gas included in rent.
Cons:
Never know heat in winter months dirty stairwell urine on floors people living in stairwell peoples packages stolen on the regular. People who didn’t live here hanging out in laundry room scared My clothes may be stolen. Food and piles of clothes on folding table for days
Advice to owner:
Clean up your property gas is included in the rent. The landlord switched out all the gas, stoves and put in electric stoves so when the heat is not on, he can pay less because of Stoves are electric so now your electric bill is higher.

Messy building and lack of management
Former Tenant
Pros:
I had a 1 bedroom, and it was spacious. Things that break are eventually attended to - broken stove or plumbing issues, leaking toilet or sink, leaking ceiling from upstairs radiator (plumbing problems seem to be a re-occuring issue, judging from all the cracks on the ceilings). *If this building was cared for/cleaned more frequently, a little safer, and there wasn't an issue with a noisy neighbor, this would be a nice building
Cons:
The live-in superintendent is non-responsive. You have to call AND email management to get any work done. It's never clean - maybe once a week during Covid someone cleans the hall floors, but rarely the stairwell. Surfaces are not cleaned. Desperately needs a fresh coat of paint. The flies! A disgusting amount of flies. Where are they coming from! Side doors are left open and bugs and rats easily get in. There has been a mouse and pest/bugs problem, needed to take off work 4 times to have the exterminator come. The photos of what the renovations will look like are not accurate, and the work is very sloppy. The apartment was never cleaned before I moved in. Bathroom tiles used to be pink and were simply 'spray painted' white. The bathroom ceiling and walls are cracking but they were just painted over instead of actually fixing the water damage from upstairs. The elevator breaks down very frequently. The washers/dryers are constantly broken. Someone props open the side doors that lead into the building and 'neighbors' use our laundry room. The recycling is rarely taken out of the trash rooms on each floor, so people just pile it in until you can't even access the trash chute. Neighbor on 4th floor plays their tv and music excessively loud - can be heard in all apartments on 4th floor, adjacent apartments on other floors, and in the stairwell (but he's lived there for 10+ years, so you just have to deal with it, as he says). Do the security cameras even work? Can't seem to figure out who is stealing our packages, but if the cameras worked, maybe we could identify the culprit! People prop open the entry doors, thus creating a safety and theft issue.
Advice to owner:
This place needs to be cared for and cleaned so much more frequently. It looks so run down, but a fresh coat of paint and regular cleaning would vastly help. Please know what's going on in your building - this isn't a community laundry center!

So much potential but…
Former Tenant
Pros:
These apartments get great light, are spacious with beautiful hardwood floors.
Cons:
The noise from outside is incomprehensible. Packages get stolen from The lobby. The heat is spotty and loud, the plumbing system is old.

Building slowly falling apart with indifferent management
Former Tenant
Pros:
It is rent controlled. The rooms are fairly large.
Cons:
The street is one of the noisiest in the neighborhood. The building is falling apart in some places and it seems the property owner only does the bare minimum.
Advice to owner:
Take better care of the property
