Not a Long Term Residence
Pros
Affordable, convenient location, dog friendly
Cons
Roaches (confirmed with neighbors as well), elevator sometimes smelled like pee. Super didn't want to be bothered. Old drafty windows + inconsistent heat made for a very cold winter (avg temp around 67 degrees)
Advice to the owners
Each apartment needs to have a thorough extermination multiple times a year.
Proceed with CAUTION!
Pros
Close enough to the Q train & a bus on the block just steps away. Bodegas close by. Good price for the space. Pets allowed.
Cons
Grateful for a place to live, couldn’t wait to leave! Six years in the same 1br apt. Peaceful area with exception of traffic noise pollution. We saw an average of $50 increase w/ annual lease renewals. Gas included in our rent. The Building: Not secure. The locks on the lobby door often broken, no working security cameras in the building. Many a packages have gone missing. Mngmt doesn’t care. The heat runs at the bare minimum throughout the winter. Oh, and roaches galore! Amenities: 3 washers, 3 dryers for this 63 residential unit. Machines are old, poorly maintained (if at all), often in disrepair, dirty, foul smelling, the room unsanitary. But it stays open 24hrs. The Elevator: Six years old with more issues than Vogue. Too often “out of order.” The Stairwells: Filthy, dark, always in need of new lightbulbs. Good luck hurdling over the occasional puddle of urine in the dark whilst making your way down the stairwells when the elevator is out of order. The Super: Nice guy; always says hello. The building is poorly maintained & roach infested. This super’s performance is way below standard. He should probably choose another profession. This ain’t it! MGMNT: Poor communication & customer service. No one cares to actually solve problems. Not a single sign posted in the building encouraging cleanliness, masks, or social distancing throughout the entire pandemic.
Advice to the owners
If you personally don’t care about your property at least pay people to care and do the job right!
