Not a Forever Home
Pros
Apartment layout is nice.
Cons
The front of the building needs some tending. There's a tree that drops berries in the spring/summer and it's gross and messes up your shoes. There's no awning so you get wet while your trying to gather your keys, bags, etc. when it's raining. The building is not always clean and most of the time smells like food. The building is old. There's no elevator. There's not laundry in the building. The doors of most of the apartments have huge gaps so bugs can crawl in if you don't have a door sweep. THE BUILDING HAS ROACHES AND HUGE WATER BUGS. Some of the tenants are not cleanly which adds to the building being dirty sometimes and smelling. The building hallways and front area are only cleaned 2x a week. My apartment has had leaks in several areas constantly the entire 2 years I've been living here. Bathroom constantly has leaks above the tub because of the people upstairs. The boiler broke down multiple times this past winter and the whole building was without heat on some of the coldest nights of the year. "Building Management" is only available M-Th from 10am to 6pm and Fri from 10am-1pm, no weekends so if you have an issue you're out of luck. They screen your calls and take days to get back to you. Sometimes water gets shut off when they make repairs to other apartments and you are not notified. I can go on forever. This place has been kind of a nightmare majority of the time. The building is literally falling apart but they do patchwork to make it look "nice".
Advice to the owners
Fix the building infrastructure to stop leaks and respond to tenant issues in a timely manner and like you actually care. Follow up to make sure that issues were fixed. Find help on Friday nights and weekends so that when people have issues they can be addressed.
