Negligent Landlords
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lots of space. Super is the best. Friendly and great neighbors.
Cons:
-Negligent Landlords—takes multiple emails over weeks and months to have anything answered or done. -Illegal rooms with no windows. -Noise! Multiple daycares in the buildings—screaming and running kids at all hours. Chabad House has events at all hours and no consideration of sound for neighbors. Fake walls between bedrooms—you can speak at a room level voice with neighbors (through walls). Heating system sounds like somebody banging a wrench on a pipe every hour or two and will make sleeping not possible in Winter. -Heating system overheats or is off irregularly throughout Winter. -Landlord will increase rent 4% every year and has no desire to make reasonable offers—even during a Pandemic
Advice to owner:
Build real walls, build real rooms, respond to tenants requests and messages in a timely fashion, set quiet hours for Chabad House, kick out the day cares, offer fair lease renewal to good tenants, lower the rent.
