Good but not great
Pros
- Location - very close to the subway - Our apartment was a good size for 2 people - Pet friendly - Newer building - modern appliances, new hardwood floors, gym + laundry in basement - Waste management - its NYC, waste management will never be perfect, but the building staff does a pretty good job of regularly taking out trash and cleaning the building
Cons
- There is a medical office on the main floor. Their patients repeatedly buzz our apartment instead of the office constantly. - The building does nothing to absorb sound, it just makes everything louder. The halls and stairwell are tiled, with nothing on the floor or walls to absorb noise. There are some pretty loud tenants (screaming children) in the building that we can hear night and day. We have repeatedly spoken with both the neighbor and management and nothing has been done to mititgate the noise. Living with this has honestly been a nightmare. Not worth what we're paying in rent. We honestly LOVE our apartment, but the neighbors' noise and management's unwillingness to do anything about it is making us grateful that we're moving out.
Advice to the owners
Install doors that properly block out noise, place rugs + foam panels on walls in the halls, stairwell, and ALL common areas, and please make it clear to the tenants how much of a disturbance the noise hsa been. Take your tenants' claims of noise disturbance seriously. Many of the people in this building are trying to work from home, enjoy their privacy, and sleep. This building has become uninhabitable. We're glad we're leaving.
