Wouldn’t rent here
Pros
The best part about living here was having a big space and great neighborly community in the building. I would give this place 1 star but openigloo averaged my higher ratings for neighbors and pest control. The pest control guy is nice and we didn’t end up having many sights of pests here.
Cons
The absolute worst part about living here was having no heat but paying $900 energy bills. We spent our winter in 30F. It was like camping. It was hard enough sleeping and there was no point using our basement because it was Antarctica . And the split unit problems all started with the AC not working as well in the summer, so the apartment would get moist and hot and made it really easy for flies and gnats to reproduce. Management just used bandaid over bandaid solution so no problems that we started with moving in were every resolved by the time of move out. This includes the split units, which had leaks and also were a model meant primarily for cooling. The ceiling also leaked and has multiple cracks extending, which they don’t seem to care about. And our basement flooded, so don’t store any valuables down there or count on them. I don’t want to live under YHT management again, but having a slum lord most def made it worse.
avoid - horrible managment
Pros
the neighbors were nice and laundry in the basement plus roof access were a plus
Cons
horrible slumlord management. There was a period were my apartment didn't have hot water (in the winter) and it took the management over 11 days to respond and resolve the issue. They also try to pawn off their con Edison bills to the tenants. Management has a fake address for their office and its nearly impossible to reach them.
Advice to the owners
treat your tenants like human beings
