My roommates and I moved out of a 3 bed/2 bath in this building because of a HUGE rent increase - from 5,500 to 6,200 (over 12%). It’s now on the market for 6,500. Management was completely unwilling to negotiate & 2 year leases aren’t an option. Our neighbors in a 3 bed/2 bath had been in the building for a few years and they all moved out after being hit by similarly high rent increases every year. The building is exempt from the Good Cause Eviction law because it’s classified as a condo building. Such high rent increases are unsustainable and predatory. The building and location aren’t nice enough to justify these prices (it’s just a regular building with laundry in the basement - the ground floor units have access to a backyard but there are no other amenities). Also - the upstairs bedroom doesn’t have a door. We saw roaches ~3-5 times while living there (we think they got in under the door).
Advice to the owners
Stop the predatory rent increases
