Developers cut corners
Pros
Not corporate. Units are individually owned. The top floors are legally built, the building is higher than all of its neighbors, so if you are on the top two floors, you get a beautiful view. The apartments are designed to be spacious and full of light..
Cons
It was built with every corner cut possible. The insulation is horrible so you end up paying through the roof for utilities (electric in the summer in gas in the winter). The elevator breaks down all the time. Every single tenant has been trapped in it before the top floors are illegally built, so the building is higher than all of his neighbors, which means you hear everything. There was a road rage shooting in front of it this past summer. Apparently the building is very flood prone. I had a hole in my ceiling for about a year and a half because of how the roof was constructed (material and design). There’s been mysterious flooding into peoples units from common piping. It happened three times since I’ve lived here.l (3.5 years). No windows in the unit is properly set when the building was built a lot of unit owners had to re do their windows, but some did not, including mine. So I have one window that doesn’t open and one window that doesn’t close, which I had to which the gaps with cardboard.
Advice to the owners
Definitely redo the windows and insulation
