Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 174 Knickerbocker Avenue in Brooklyn reveal a mixed tenant experience. The building boasts a good location, newer appliances, roof access, and generally well-maintained common areas with effective garbage management. Some apartments are newly renovated and clean, while others suffered from initial move-in issues and pest problems like bed bugs. Water pressure and heating are mostly satisfactory but occasional repairs like gas leaks and air conditioner outages have inconvenienced residents. Owner responsiveness is perceived as inconsistent, with some tenants praising landlord attentiveness and others reporting slow or poor communication. Noise levels and neighbor relations tend to be moderate. Mail delivery issues and small apartment sizes were noted as minor drawbacks.

Bed Bugs and Security Deposit
Former Tenant
Pros:
Newly renovated, good location.
Cons:
Zal, the landlord, had us move in before the place was cleaned/painted/repaired. We took videos for proof of damage and filth. I even went as far as cleaning the entire place myself and patching the walls, etc.
Shortly after move-in we found out we had bed bugs. Zal did not inform the other tenants we had them, and we were displaced for at least 2 months and losing our minds over the bugs. At the end of the whole ordeal, Zal didn’t even give us our security deposit back… that is multiple thousands.
Advice to owner:
Be a decent landlord.
