Shiny Surface, Brittle Bones
Pros
Amenities (AC, dishwasher, & laundry!) , wall color, wood staining color, apartment layout, roof access, located near a lot of fun places and good restaurants, lots of light in bedrooms, balcony
Cons
Management can be difficult to communicate with in a timely manner (especially on the Sabbath), amenities and other appliances breakdown relatively off, next-door neighbors often play loud music (less so recently), intercom has issues, third “bedroom” doesn’t have any windows (not a true bedroom), a little on the smaller side

Great if you can work around the drawbacks
Pros
Gorgeous apartment. In unit washer/dryer works great, plus dishwasher. Big bedrooms, all about 10ftx11ft. Aircon/heat units installed into every room, but the building stays warm enough that we never had to use the heating. Small closet in the main room, great for storing cleaning supplies.
Cons
One of the bedrooms doesn’t have a window, yet they advertise it as a 3 bedroom (which is technically illegal). We have some VERY noisy neighbors, sometimes the music outside is so loud you can see your window vibrating to it, but it’s always off and quiet by midnight. Small closets. No natural light in the kitchen/living room. Hot water runs out fairly quickly, as the tanks are small, but shouldn’t be a problem if you take quick showers. Very little counter/storage space in the kitchen. We had a roach problem for about a month, and it was taken care of quickly. The advertised it as a shared backyard, but the backyard basically belongs to the people on the first floor. Everyone talks about how bad the management team is, and they’re right. If you really bother the building manager he will respond, he always fixes my issues because he knows I’ll call everyday until it gets fixed. No one from management is available on the Sabbath, so good luck if something goes wrong on a Friday night. THE WORST THING is the people who handle the money/rent. They will squeeze every last dime out of you that they can. Not communicative at all. Take forever to respond to emails or alert you of outstanding balances. If you message about a problem on Monday, they’ll respond right before closing on Friday, so you can’t reach them again until the next Monday. And on and on.
