Negligent Management- lack of urgency and communication
Former Tenant
Pros:
Central Air, new appliances
Cons:
The absolute WORST management I’ve ever experienced in all my many years of living/renting in NYC! I was so excited to move into this new building and really hoped to get off a great start but am going through an awful time here. It all started when the fire/smoke alarm started going off. Management did not answer my calls or emails, so I had to resort to calling 311 twice within the last 4 weeks to try and fix the issue. The cops and fire department said it was only the landlord who could fix the issue. During this time, management emailed all tenants asking about an un-claimed dishwasher in the lobby so I guess that was more urgent than the safety of your tenants! Sure, there’s a bulky heavy package in the lobby, but it’s beyond me that a faulty fire/smoke alarm is the last of their concerns! God forbid if there was an actual fire, how would I know whether to leave or stay in the building?
After 3-4 weeks, they finally reach out to me asking me if I paid rent! They claimed they HAD NO IDEA what was going on because they were out of office for 3 weeks. That continues to be the rationale behind their lack of communication and urgency here.
The final blow here is that they wrote that they would start the EVICTION process. All because I addressed these issues and asked for concessions.
I’m happy and ready to pay my rent as a responsible tenant, but is asking for concessions for all of this inconveniences a reason to retaliate and threaten your tenant with eviction? I cannot fathom what other problems have been occurring here.
I’ve spoken to other tenants, many are new and have also experienced horrible communication and decisions from management. The lack of acknowledgement and accountability here is incredibly frustrating.
Advice to owner:
Get better management or your building is going to continue to be a revolving door of tenants, less money for you.
