Landlord Who?
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location.
Month to month lease.
Great neighbors.
Security deposit was managed/held by tenant.
Cons:
Very loud street-side.
Very slow on repairs - no way to reach anyone for repairs after hours/weekends and landlord had to approve before sending anyone to repair.
Windows don’t fit in windows - very expensive to cool in summer.
Heat only works intermittently in winter.
90% of repairs done by household, including replacing floors/painting/regular maintenance. Only received plumbing/HVAC support from landlord.
Only accepts checks for rent.
Landlord would rather lose long term good renters rather than work with us when we struggled to find a new roommate during Covid-19 - resulted in everyone leaving and the property remaining vacant for months.
Advice to owner:
Investigate property values around the neighborhood and compare it with the value of this neglected property before raising the rent by almost 80% on tenants.
