Management sucks, even in no-heat emergencies
Pros
Good neighborhood and location. The apartment was in nice, clean condition when we moved in. Bike storage in the basement was a huge plus (though last we heard, management was trying to make everyone start paying for this). Laundry machines were in good condition. They seemed to be on top of pest management, we only ever saw a few roaches.
Cons
We had no heat (including no hot water) one winter for a whole week. We have pets and this was a danger to them as well. Management claims it was National Grid's fault, but ultimately it is the responsibility of management to maintain a habitable environment. Turns out that turning the heat back on stretched out to a whole week-long project because management had been skimping on bringing other things (like the water heater) up to code. We didn't get any form of compensation for the life-threatening situation. Management also got mad at tenants to complaining to 311, even though that is LITERALLY what you're supposed to do. Beyond that heating issue, our radiators constantly leaked and management didn't fix it. We had a maintenance person come out almost every other month and they all said it had to do with the furnace which surprise surprise, management didn't want to fix.
