Avoid if you can
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location. You are directly under the J train 121st stop and both the q10, q55 and q56.
Cons:
After living there for a little over two years, everything besides the location. The rooms are directly in front of the building and right under both the MTA train tracks plus cargo train tracks so noises levels are at a 110% always. Both avenues are also incredibly busy and noisy at all hours of the day so if you are very sensitive to noise, this will be a major problem. The walls and floors are also incredibly thin so you can hear practically everything. I was able to hear the upstairs neighbor’s phone ringing and vibrating so that gives you an idea. The place is INFESTED with roaches. They’re all through the frame of the building and apartment so no matter how much you spray, clean and put down chemicals, they will come back in full force. The place needs major extermination and fumigation. My family and I are not dirty people at all so this was incredibly frustrating beyond words. There is no system for garbage and are forced to use the city garbage which puts you at risk for getting fines. We had issues with the fridge and central heating/AC multiple times and was left in the middle of this past summer’s heatwave without AC for over a week. The landlord is extremely unhelpful, immature and cuts corners consistently. We had to constantly be back and fourth over every single issues above and each time, it was barely addressed or solved. There’s probably more to this list but I mean this when I say, AVOID renting here if you can. It’s not worth your sanity, time, money or energy.
